The Pro Choice Forum website is designed
for those who have an interest in social, legal and ethical aspects
of abortion. The main section of the site is titled 'Resources'.
Here you will find detailed articles and research papers about:
- abortion law (mainly British
law);
- two aspects of abortion that
have emerged as particular foci for ethical debate, abortion
and disability and ante-natal screening;
- contraception and reproductive
technologies (stored in the 'Related Issues' section);
- abortion in Ireland
The site also features a special section,
'Psychological Issues', where you will find research papers and
comment articles about the relationship of abortion to women's
mental health, and also practice issues in abortion care.
The site also includes a comment section, an events section, and
a list of links to other sites that are recommended by Pro Choice
Forum.
Pro-Choice Forum was established as an independent trust in 1997.
Its aims are:
(i) to increase knowledge about
the causes of unwanted pregnancy
(ii) to increase knowledge about
the social, legal and ethical issues surrounding abortion
In order to increase knowledge, Pro-Choice
Forum aims to foster interaction between academics with a special
interest in the issue of abortion, and others with shared interests,
especially providers of reproductive healthcare services and pro-choice
advocacy and campaigning organizations.
In order the achieve these aims, Pro-Choice Forum organises lectures,
debates and conferences; publishes pamphlets and leaflets; and
publicises research about abortion and related issues on this
site and elsewhere.
